Freddie Freeman on Dodgers’ Offensive Struggles and Reset Mindset after series loss to Marlins April 29, 2026 His postgame interview

Summary

  • Freeman describes the offense as inconsistent, with stretches of good contact but poor execution in key situational moments.
  • He emphasizes that the team will go through ups and downs and needs to simply keep getting on base and trust results will come.
  • With frustration but perspective, he points to a needed reset after a long stretch of games, hoping the day off helps the lineup regroup.

Kirsten: You guys are giving yourselves some kind of an opportunity but unable just to execute situationally. What are you seeing from the offense right now when you guys are trying to kind of just put some more runs on the board and string things together?

Freddie: We're going to go through that during the course of the season, stretches like that happen. So, just keep getting guys on base. We'll get 'em in.

Kirsten: When you look at just kind of what you're swinging about right now, it seems, no, but I mean, it seems like there is good contact, just kind of where are you at right now?

Freddie: Yeah, just hit and miss, you know, two of those three were good today and then the other three were bad. Three of the bads were when I needed them to be good. It’s just kind of, up and down right now, just trying to feel for it and hopefully get one fall, get some confidence. Reporter: What did you see on the double play?

Freddie: I hit it right at the second baseman. Yeah, he tagged Shohei and tagged second base.

Reporter: It was in a good place, what has gone wrong?

Freddie: I would have fixed it by now. Maybe the day off will fix it.

Reporter: Freddie, when you're looking at the top of the order collectively, what have you seen from the approach of you guys and where do you think it can be better from a group?

Freddie: Yeah, I mean, we've kind of been going through it. I'd say as a group, luckily we have really, really good pitching and that's kind of where we're at right now. We're going to begin the season offensively. You just kind of, you know, going through it right now and our pitching has been amazing. I don't want to not give them praise because they're the reasons why we have a chance to win every single game, but as an offense we haven't, you know, the last few games haven't been where we wanted to be. So hopefully with the day off, we'll get back at it.

Reporter: Collectively have the at-bats especially in those situational spots?

Freddie: I had pitches to hit, I just didn't hit them. I can't speak for everybody else.

I mean, I had strikes, I swung at the strikes, I didn't hit the strikes, so.

Reporter: Freddie, what is the day off for, just clear your mind, get away from all of it?

Freddie: Yeah, we played what 13 in a row so yeah, that will help.
